Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers Visit Indy Style

The Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers will be busy this St. Patrick’s Day with events around the city.

The Indianapolis “500” Gordon Pipers, a group of individuals who perform Scottish/Celtic bagpipe and drum music, have been a fixture at the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race and throughout the Midwest since 1962. One of the most popular days of the year for the Pipers to perform is St. Patrick’s Day. This year is no exception as the Pipers are scheduled to perform at more than a dozen Indianapolis-area locations.

“We love to perform,” says Pipe Major Douglas Hardwick. “Not only do we have fun creating friendships and fellowship within the group, but we enjoy entertaining those who see us perform and developing their appreciation of Scottish/Celtic culture.”
