2 women critically injured in motorcycle accident

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) – Two women taking an evening ride on their motorcycle Monday night ended up in the hospital in critical condition, police report.

Columbus Police and emergency responders received a call around 5:29 p.m. that a Chrysler Town and Country minivan pulled out in front of two women riding a Triumph Daytona 675 along 25th Street, near Cameron Lane, in East Columbus.

The driver of the minivan, Jennifer D. Harker, 37, of Columbus, reported to police that she had not seen the motorcycle as she was making a left turn.

Witnesses told police that the women riding the motorcycle were not speeding when they collided into the driver’s side of the van. After the motorcycle hit the van, it skidded several feet and both women fell and rolled several times on the pavement, according to reports.

Police say that neither the driver of the motorcycle, Jessica N. Fort, 23, of Columbus, or the passenger, Stacey C. Myers, 27, of Indianapolis, were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

One of the women was taken by Lifeline helicopter to the hospital.

Both women are listed in critical condition at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. Myers has been admitted to the Neuro Critical Unit.
