Butler heads to Pittsburgh for NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The NCAA Basketball Tournament officially tips off Tuesday night with the first four games taking place in Dayton.

The Butler Bulldogs are a part of the field of 68 teams this year. They will play on Thursday against Texas.

The Bulldogs left Hinkle Fieldhouse on Tuesday morning on their team bus to head to the Indianapolis International Airport to board a flight to Pittsburgh for their first game at 2:45 p.m. against the Longhorns. The Longhorns are a one point favorite against Butler.

Coach Chris Holtmann, who is taking the Dawgs to the NCAA Tournament in his first season, told 24-Hour News 8 that his team doesn’t mind being the underdog.

“They know that not too many people are picking us and I get that Texas is good. Texas was a top 10 team in the country earlier in the year, and I get that. But we do realize that we’ll have a lot of people that will pick Texas and it’s going to be about can we be one position better than Texas on Thursday afternoon that’s going to be our challenge.” said Holtmann.
