Dick Vitale takes on Punxsutawney Phil in NCAA bracket-picking contest

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Famed basketball analyst Dick Vitale was in Indianapolis Monday to take on a groundhog.

Vitale is going head to head with Punxsutawney Phil, in a bracket-picking contest for the NCAA Tournament. Organizers say this will be the first time Phil has left Pennsylvania in more than 10 years.

Phil, who many are blaming for this year’s brutal winter, is trying to beat the broadcasting legend at his own game in this year’s Allstate March Mayhem Challenge.

Allstate Insurance will make a monetary donation to Gobbler’s Knob to go towards the celebration of Groundhog Day and the V Foundation for cancer research on behalf of each competitor.
