Teen ticketed after keg careens down South Bend street

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A runaway keg of beer alerted police to an underage teen transporting alcohol Tuesday.

Indiana State Excise Police officers saw the keg roll out of a pickup truck when the tailgate gave way. The keg went down South Bend Avenue toward Charles Street.

The teenager, 18-year-old Scott Benge, was ticketed for illegal transportation of alcohol since he’s under 21. He was released at the scene and will have to appear in court.

No injuries were reported as a result of the keg falling out of the vehicle.
