IURC plans investigation into IPL network

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – After underground explosions in downtown Indianapolis Thursday morning, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission announced it will begin an investigation into Indianapolis Power and Light’s network, including its maintenance plans.

The IURC called IPL’s “continued failures” a “risk to public safety,” after the commission issued action plans to the power company in 2011 and 2014 related to the same problems.

A meeting on April 2 will outline what areas need to be addressed by IPL.

Before that meeting, the IURC will accept comments from the public. Those can be made online by clicking here or emailing uccinfo@oucc.in.gov or by mailing to the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor, PNC Center, 115 W. Washington St., Suite 1500 South, Indianapolis, IN 46204. All comments should include cause number 44602 along with the person’s full name, mailing address, daytime telephone and, when applicable, email address.
