Prom dresses donated in Hamilton County

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – High school prom is important and one group of women in Indiana wanted to ensure that every girl had a chance to wear the dress of her dreams.

The Hamilton County Prom Event group took in gently-used prom dresses during the last few weeks to distribute to students who would not be able to afford them.

On Saturday, they held an event called the ‘Cinderella Dress Sale’ at Monon Trails Elementary in Westfield, Ind.

“It’s a girl’s special time of her life,” said Michelle Gouty, a teacher who helped with the event. “Everybody should be able to enjoy their prom and so we want to make this opportunity available for everybody.”

Gouty said they were able to dress more than 30 ‘Cinderellas’ Saturday including alterations, shoes and jewelry.

The event was from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
