Former NBA player: Will religious freedom bill allow discrimination against me?

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A former NBA player is wondering if he will be discriminated against when he visits Indianapolis for the Final Four.

Jason Collins, the first publicly gay male athlete in one of North America’s major sports leagues, posed the question on Twitter Monday night.

On Monday afternoon, the Indiana House passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Critics of the bill say the bill will lead to discrimination.

Michael Huber, CEO of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, let Collins know that he and everyone else will be welcomed on Final Four weekend.

Collins, now retired from the NBA, joined Yahoo Sports as an analyst in March.

Earlier in the evening, Governor Mike Pence said he looked forward to signing the bill.
