IMPD seeks hit-and-run suspect

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect in a hit-and-run case.

IMPD says the incident occurred Thursday morning. Investigators say the victim, who is hearing impaired and has blurred vision, was leaving her apartment and walking to the bus stop at Bolton Avenue and Devington Road.

Investigators say she was struck by a red SUV heading northbound on Bolton Avenue.

The victim was taken to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital with critical injuries. IMPD says she nearly succumbed to her injuries but is now recovering following extensive surgeries.

Surveillance photos taken near Radnor Road and Bolton Avenue show what IMPD believes to be a 1992 Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban or a GMC Yukon with gray trim on the lower half of the vehicle.

The vehicle is expected to have minor to moderate damage to the front end.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the IMPD Crash Investigations Section at 317-327-6549 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477)
