Final Four event organizers stress inclusiveness

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Local Final Four event planners are sending a message to potential visitors: everyone’s invited.

Indiana Sports Corp is helping organize the March Madness Music Festival and other events. Their Vice President of Communications John Dedman said people have contacted Indiana Sports Corp to ask how the Religious Freedom Restoration Act could affect them this weekend.

Indiana Sports Corp told those potential visitors that the law doesn’t take effect until this summer, and that Indianapolis is a welcoming city.

“I think as a community we’re trying to focus our efforts on showing how inclusive our community can be,” Dedman said. “So that’s really our focus for this event and moving forward as well.”

NCAA employees are already checking in at the JW Marriott–the NCAA Headquarters hotel where many NCAA employees, sponsors and fans are staying.

General Manager Phil Ray is expecting record attendance at the hotel restaurant. He’s not expecting the bill to change that.

“We’re pretty confident that our Hoosier Hospitality will come through loud and clear as it always has, and everyone that will come here is going to have a great time,” he said.
