Police looking for answers after boy shot in arm

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Eliu Fontanez opened Palacio Imperial in July. The reception hall has hosted weddings, corporate events and private parties.

Fontanez opened the hall near 38th Street and Post Road, which is considered one of the city’s most challenged areas when in it comes to violence.

“Post Road and 42nd Street has a bad name and a bad rap,” said Fontanez.

Despite the perception, Fontanez has invested in the community through his hall. On Saturday night, his reception hall hosted a private party for a teenage boy.

However, during the evening the private party soon turned public. That’s because attendees started to tweet and post the location of the party.

The number of attendees started to swell. Despite having security and even though parents were on hand Fontanez and those throwing the party decided to end it early.

Soon teens spilled out into the parking lot. Moments later several gunshots were fired when the shooting stopped a 13-year-old boy was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. Crews rushed the boy to a local hospital in good condition.

Police have not made any arrest.
