Barlow comes up short at Hinkle

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Final Four festivities continued Thursday at Butler with the college stars taking part in the 3-point and dunk contests.

The Dawgs were represented by sharpshooter Alex Barlow while Purdue’s John Octeus attempted to rock the rim like he did at IU in February.

Hinkle Fieldhouse was rocking and a full house was there to cheer on the local guy. Barlow, a former walk-on who ended up as team captain, was red-hot out of the blocks and quickly reached the semi-finals, then the final two.

Notre Dame senior Pat Connaughton was also on fire early. He had the second-highest point score to make the semis, but it ended there for the Fighting Irish sharpshooter.

Barlow scored 21 in the final against Gonzaga’s Kevin Pangos, but the Zag star scored 22 to win.

Before the event, we asked Barlow about putting the Butler uniform on one more time.

“It means a lot. Anytime I can play in front of some fans here and play in this building, its obviously special. So to be able to do it one more time before I am done, it will be a lot of fun. It’s something I am looking forward to,” Barlow said.
