Center opens in response to HIV outbreak

AUSTIN, Ind. (WISH) — A “one-stop shop” has opened up in Austin in response to the HIV outbreak in southern Indiana.

The center, organized by the Indiana State Department of Health and local and state partners, will provide free HIV testing, vaccinations against Tetanus, Hepatitis A and B, and information about HIV prevention, treatment and resources.

Additionally, Lifespring Health Systems will be providing substance abuse help.

Also offered is assistance in enrolling in Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP 2.0) insurance.

All of these services are free.

The center is located inside of the Community Outreach Center at 2277 West Frontage Road in Austin. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The center will be closed on April 6 for Easter.
