IMS unveils 500 Festival cars

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — IMS unveiled the 2015 500-Festival cars at the Speedway on Thursday afternoon.

The cars are Chevrolet Camaros, special edition convertibles, with the Indy 500 logo. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and Speedway President J Douglas Boles spoke at the unveiling.

“Camero is a brand that’s been around here for a long time. One of my favorite cars ever is the 1969 pace car that was a Camero, white with an orange stripe. So it really does bring back a lot of memories for a lot of long-time Indy 500 fans who remember that Camero pacing the race,” said Boles.

Organizers announced that for the first time ever, a small number of the cars will also be available for public purchase at dealerships in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Terre Haute.
