Indy Eleven prepare for home opener

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After a 1-1 draw on Saturday down in Atlanta, the Indy Eleven are busy preparing this week for their home opener, which is set for Saturday night at Carroll Stadium on the campus of IUPUI.

Nearly eleven thousand fans packed “The Mike” for each game during last year’s debut season.

The team is looking forward to another great crowd this weekend and throughout the year.

“Our fans are hands down the best fans in the league,” said goalkeeper Kristian Nicht. “It’s the best atmosphere we have in all of NASL, so I’m really, really looking forward to the home opener and every home game.”

Midfielder Dylan Mares agreed with Nicht’s assessment of their hometown fans.

“Knowing our fans, we have the best fans in the league, I believe. And it’s going to be like last year. It’s just incredible.”

However, with large crowds comes pressure a factor not lost on forward Wojciech Wojcik.

“A lot of people coming to watch, so you got to perform,” he said. “So definitely a little bit nervous, but more excited than nervous. Actually I would say more nervous than excited.”
