Indy Eleven gets IPS students in game day spirit

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Just two days until the Indy Eleven home opener and some IPS elementary students are getting in the spirit.

Members of the team stopped by Carl Wilde School 79 Thursday. They set-up in the gym, where kids talked with team members about the sport and even practiced their own soccer skills.

The players led students in a series of yoga exercises the athletes use to warm up.

Team member Marco Franco says he was happy to see the kids excited about soccer.

“It motivates them to do well in school, to do well in sports, and to have goals in life. I never see real football players in life! I only see it in tv,” said Franco.

The opener will air Saturday on 24-Hour News 8. A pregame show starts at 7 p.m.
