Purdue joins 27 universities in sexual assault survey

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Purdue University is taking part in one of the largest surveys ever written on sexual assault.

On Monday, more than 40,000 Purdue students will receive an email for the survey. Purdue is one of 28 universities participating. More than 800,000 students nationwide will be invited to take part.

The survey is being put on by the Association of American Universities and is anonymous.

Purdue’s ethics and compliance vice president Alysa Christmas Rollock said they use the survey to analyze areas of safety around campus.

“We want to know both the positive and the negatives,” Rollock explained. “Are there resources that students feel more comfortable going to? Are there some that seem to be barriers?”

The survey will be available to students until May 4. Rollock said she expects there will be follow up surveys from the data collected.
