Western Indiana car crash kills 2 high school students

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) – Students at a western Indiana high school are mourning the deaths of two classmates who were fatally injured in a car crash that also left a third student hospitalized.

The Tribune-Star reports that the Marion County coroner’s office says 18-year-old Gerry Jones died early Friday at an Indianapolis hospital from injuries he suffered in Tuesday night’s crash.

The car’s driver, 18-year-old Andrea Miller, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Terre Haute.

Eighteen-year-old Garrett Smith was injured in the crash and was listed in good condition at an Indianapolis hospital.

All three are students at Terre Haute South Vigo High School.

Police say their car left a roadway, struck a tree, dropped down an embankment and then became submerged in a creek.
