1 dead in NC college shooting, suspect at large

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina was locked down Monday morning after one person was shot and killed in the library on campus, Wayne County Emergency Services said.

The shooting happened around 8 a.m.  Authorities said a suspect was not in custody.

According to the college’s website, the entire campus is on lockdown.

Goldsboro authorities said one person had been shot and law enforcement are treating the incident as an “active shooter” scene. The Associated Press reported the victim died.

Emergency services said the shooter was described as a white male, bald with a goatee and had a tattoo over his left eye. He was seen wearing a blue jacket and light pants. The believe the suspect is in the area.
