Car hits rail, rolls and crashes

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Shortly before 7:30 a.m. Monday, police in Bartholomew County say a woman fell asleep and crashed her car.

Police say the accident happened on County Road 1000 North and Base Road.

According to Deputy Jason Williams, Tasha Coffey, 20, of Franklin, crashed her Chrysler Sebring.

Coffey told police she fell asleep, then hit a concrete bridge rail which sent the vehicle into the air.

Police say the car rolled several times before coming to rest on its top.

Coffey complained of pain in her right wrist at the scene.  Coffey and her passenger were both transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for evaluation.

Both occupants were wearing seat-belts at the time of the crash.
