Cathedral junior breaks long jump record held for 34 years

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The long jump record at Cathedral stood for 34 years, before Cathedral junior Cienna Jordan set a new school record last season. She has then proceeded to break it over and over again this season.

“It was surreal,” said Jordan. “I didn’t think it was really something that I could do. But when I found out it was something that I could do, it just opened up a whole bunch of possibilities for me”

“She is probably one of the best all-around athletes that we have here at the school,” said Cathedral track coach Mark Doctor. “She’s a good basketball player. She can do just about any event on the track. She works really hard, and probably, like other athletes, there is no one harder on herself if things are not going well.”

Her marks have well beat the 1980 record of 17’4″; Hers stands at 17′ 9.75″.
