ISP troopers assigned vehicles at annual ceremony

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Troopers from Indiana State Police’s 74th Recruit Academy are hitting the streets.

Forty ISP probationary troopers were assigned their vehicles during a special ceremony Tuesday morning. They can now begin patrolling on their own in their assigned districts.

Besides other state troopers at the ceremony, moms, dads, spouses and their children attended to show their support for their loved ones.

“It’s an exciting day,” Doug Carter, Indiana State Police superintendent, said. “These folks have worked really, really hard for this day and to be able to see it come to fruition for communities in Indiana.”

The troopers first went through six months of academy training and three months of field training.
