Police make arrest following SWAT situation on north east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police say a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday afternoon ended with the driver barricading themselves in a home.

According to Sgt. Gary Woodruff with the Lawrence Police Department, the pursuit started in the 10700 block of Pendleton Pike after a vehicle refused to stop Tuesday afternoon.

The pursuit ended at a home in the 5700 block of High Timber lane on the city’s north east side. The suspect exited the vehicle and entered the home. SWAT was called out to assist police.

Two women and a child was inside the home. Police didn’t know if the suspect knew them.

Police say they were able to make an arrest when the man eventually surrendered. It was not clear why the suspect ran from police.
