Alabama teen takes grandfather to first prom

ALBERTVLLE, Ala. (CNN) – This time of the year teens are thinking about prom and who will they take the dance.

For one Alabama teen who to take was the easy part.

Joy Webb decided to take her 80-year-old grandfather James Drain to her prom at Albertville High School. Drain never got the chance to go to prom when he was younger and Webb wanted her “poppa” to accompany her.

“My family is everything to me, and I love him so much, and it’s just like really special to me because I know not many people get to do that. And I know he loves me and I love him, and it’s just really neat and special,” said Webb

Not only did they experiencing prom for the first time three generations apart, poppa was able to check another item off the list as well.

“This is my first appearance in a tuxedo! First tuxedo I’ve ever had,” said Drain.

First tuxedo, first prom and a carriage that would make Cinderella jealous.

Webb said her poppa was her prince for the evening.
