Oregon runner celebrates too early

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A college athlete’s early celebration led him to second place by a tenth of a second. His mistake has him trending on social media.

Oregon senior Tanguy Pepiot was ahead of his competitors at a track meet Saturday.

At the sight of the finish line, Pepiot waved his hands in the air in celebration. Little did he know that Washington Junior Meron Simon was approaching him.

Simon made it through the finish line leaving Pepiot to take second place.
