INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The communications director for Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is stepping down to spend more time with her family.
Pence’s office announced the resignation of Christy Denault on Wednesday.
Denault joined Pence during his campaign for governor and has held communications roles in the private sector and higher education.
She notified Pence of her decision to leave in a letter dated Monday. Denault has 6-year-old triplets and an 8-year-old and said it is time to devote more energy to her family.
Pence’s office says Denault will remain on staff until May 22 while a replacement is found.
Pence praised her “selfless dedication and professionalism” in a statement Wednesday.
