Broadway Across America announces shows coming to Indianapolis

Broadway in Indianapolis announces the all-new 2015-2016 season which includes the return of one of Indianapolis’ favorites in a spectacular new production-THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! The five-show package also includes CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE, THE WIZARD OF OZ, ONCE, and Disney’s NEWSIES.   And as a season option, THE BOOK OF MORMON. Back by popular demand, THE BOOK OF MORMON, which played a 1-week run in 2014 returns to Indianapolis for a limited engagement April, 2016.

2015-2016 SEASON SHOWS

CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE – December 15-20, 2015, Old National Centre

Cirque Dreams lights up with 2015 holiday season with its critically acclaimed holiday stage extravaganza Cirque Dreams Holidaze; a new cirque show, Broadway musical and family Christmas spectacular all in one! Hailed by The New York Daily News as a “delicious confection of charm, sparkle and talent by the sleighload & so full of energy it could end our dependence on oil!” Be amazed by over 300 costumes, 20 acts and 30 artists from every corner of the globe making Cirque Dreams Holidaze the greatest variety show on the planet! Witness snowmen, penguins, angels, reindeer, toy soldiers, gingerbread men, ornaments and of course Santa; with soaring acrobatics, gravity defying feats, elaborate production numbers, imaginative costumes, illusions and more. The show celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with singers, original music and seasonal favorites all performed in a winter wonderland of amazement.

THE WIZARD OF OZ – January 12-17, 2016, Clowes Memorial Hall

The most magical adventure of them all. This new production of The Wizard of Oz is an enchanting adaptation of the all-time classic, totally reconceived for the stage.

Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay, this production contains the beloved songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Click your heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, as they journey through the magical land of Oz to meet the Wizard and obtain their hearts’ desires. Watch out for the Wicked Witch of the West and her winged monkeys as you rediscover the real story of Oz in this fantastic musical treat for the whole family.

ONCE – February 9-14, 2016, Clowes Memorial Hall

Winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including BEST MUSICAL, ONCE is a truly original Broadway experience. Featuring an impressive ensemble of actor/musicians who play their own instruments onstage, ONCE tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician who’s about to give up on his dream when a beautiful young woman takes a sudden interest in his haunting love songs. As the chemistry between them grows, his music soars to powerful new heights… but their unlikely connection turns out to be deeper and more complex than your everyday romance. Emotionally captivating and theatrically breathtaking, ONCE draws you in from the very first note and never lets go. NEWSIES – March 15-20, 2016, Clowes Memorial Hall

They delivered the papers, until they made the headlines. Direct from Broadway comes NEWSIES, the smash-hit, crowd-pleasing new musical from Disney. Winner of the 2012 Tony Awards® for Best Score and Best Choreography, NEWSIES has audiences and critics alike calling it “A MUSICAL WORTH SINGING ABOUT!” (The New York Times). Filled with one heart-pounding number after another, it’s a high-energy explosion of song and dance you just don’t want to miss.

Based on true events, NEWSIES tells the captivating story of a band of underdogs who become unlikely heroes when they stand up to the most powerful men in New York. It’s a rousing tale about fighting for what’s right…and staying true to who you are.

NEWSIES was brought to the stage by an award-winning creative team. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA – May 4-15, 2016, Old National Centre

Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will come to Indianapolis as part of a brand new North American Tour. Critics are raving that this breathtaking production is “bigger and better than ever before” and features a brilliant new scenic design by Paul Brown, Tony Award®-winning original costume design by Maria Björnson, lighting design by Tony Award®-winner Paule Constable, new choreography by Scott Ambler, and new staging by director Laurence Connor. The production, overseen by Matthew Bourne and Cameron Mackintosh, boasts many exciting special effects including the show’s legendary chandelier. The beloved story and thrilling score – with songs like “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask Of You,” and “Masquerade” – will be performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this PHANTOM one of the largest productions now on tour.
