Fairbanks Circle of Hope

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. Molly Burns with Fairbanks talks about the signs and symptoms of alcohol abuse and addiction and how to receive help.

We want people to know that there is hope out there and there is recovery out there.” Robin Parsons, Director of Adult Development, Fairbanks

The Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner raises awareness in the community about alcohol and drug addiction while honoring an individual or organization for outstanding contributions related to research, education or treatment of drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. Proceeds from the event support the programs and services at Fairbanks and Hope Academy.

The Circle of Hope Dinner is on April 23 at the Indianapolis Marriott with featured speaker Greg Williams, Director of The Anonymous People. The Anonymous People highlights the 23.5 million Americans living in long-term recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

This year’s award recipient, Dr. Arden Christen, is a professor emeritus in the oral biology department at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. Over the last 45 years, he has worked diligently to promote smoking cessation throughout the state and nationally. Dr. Christen was a trailblazer in making oral health a focal point in the battle against tobacco use.

The Fairbanks Circle of Hope Dinner will begin at 6pm with a reception and dinner served at 7pm. For information about the event visit www.fairbankscd.org/coh.
