Texas veterinarian fired after bragging about killing cat with bow and arrow

BRENHAM, Texas (KXAN) – A cat killed by a bow and arrow has prompted an investigation into a Texas veterinarian. Brenham veterinarian Dr. Kristen Lindsey posted a now-deleted image on Facebook with a caption that read, “My first bow kill, LOL” and refers to killing feral cats. “Vet of the Year Award…gladly accepted,” she continued.

Complaints about the post led the Austin County Sheriff’s Office to investigate. The animal clinic where Lindsey worked said she was fired Friday morning.

“Our goal now is to go on and try to fix our black eye and hope that people are reasonable and understand that those actions don’t in any way portray what we are for here at the Washington Animal Clinic,” said owner Bruce Buenger. “We put our heart and soul into this place.”

Meanwhile, a woman who is cat-sitting for Lindsey’s neighbors said the cat that was killed was not feral and belongs to a couple, according to KPRC.

“We believe that this is the cat, since it is a neighbor of the current owner, and we kind of want to see the body but we don’t know where the body is,” she told KPRC. “But the markings are identical to the picture that was on Facebook, so we just need some answers to if this was their family cat.”
