Woman yelling at officer in video heads to court

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The woman at the center of a viral video was in court Monday morning.

Police say Shana Hancock was drunk earlier in April when she approached Fort Wayne Officer Stephen Ealing at IHOP. The officer can be heard repeatedly telling Hancock to leave the restaurant, but she refused. Officer Ealing later spoke out about the incident.

Hancock faces five charges:

  • Battery against a public safety officer, level 6 felony
  • Resisting law enforcement, misdemeanor
  • Public intoxication, misdemeanor
  • Disorderly conduct, misdemeanor
  • Criminal mischief, misdemeanor

Hancock skipped a court hearing the prior week. She said her attorney told her not to show up. Officers later arrested her, and she was released again on bond.

Hancock issued an apology for the initial incident at IHOP on her Facebook page:

Well my darlings I just wanted to say how sorry I am for acting out the way I did the other night. I am completely humiliated and sickened by my actions. I am so sorry to the officer for screaming at him like that. I am also very sorry that my actions have now involved everyone around me, my community, my employers, my friends and my family. I love you all so much and I am truely sorry. Thank you for all of the love and support you have all shown me. I will do everything I can to turn this around. Blessed be.
