Local students honored for reading accomplishments

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Thousands of students were honored for reading Tuesday morning.

The children from schools across the state packed the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis as part of the WISH-TV I Love To Read challenge. The program is celebrating its 25th year.

24-Hour News 8’s Lori Wilson and Eric Halvorson served as the emcee’s at the event.

Students in kindergarten through third grade had a goal to read 1,200 minutes. Olders kids through grade 8 had to read 2,500 minutes.

This was the first year kindergartners were added to the program.
