Police arrest juvenile for possession of a handgun

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Shelbyville arrested two juveniles for possession of drug paraphernalia. One was arrested for possession of a handgun without a license.

On Friday, an officer patrolling the area of East Broadway Street noticed two juveniles who looked suspicious. The officer made contact with the pair and noted that the story they told him did not add up.

Police say the officer asked the juveniles if they had anything on them they should not have. One told the officer that he had a lighter. While the officer searched the juvenile he felt the handle of a pistol on the juvenile’s waist.

Both juveniles were handcuffed while officers checked for additional weapons. According to police, they found drug paraphernalia on both of the juveniles during their search.

One of the juveniles was released to his parents. The second was taken to the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.
