Jury convicts man for murdering woman found in wooden chest

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man accused of killing a woman and putting her body in a wooden chest was found guilty on Wednesday.

James Wade was charged with murder in the death of 24-year-old Jazmine Trammell. She was found dead in March of last year at an apartment complex near 42nd Street and Post Road in Lawrence.

According to court documents, Trammell died from multiple stab wounds. Wade was identified as the suspect when his phone number was found as one of the last numbers with whom Trammell communicated on the morning she went missing.

Police say Wade lived near the location where the wooden chest was found. A blood sample from inside of his apartment matched Trammell’s.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 1 at 2 p.m.
