Man badly hurt after north side crash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man was taken to the hospital early Tuesday morning in serious condition after a crash on the north side of Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Fire Department was called to the 7700 block of North Meridian Street around 2:30 a.m. on the report of a crash with entrapment.

When emergency personnel arrived they found the 21-year-old male driver trapped in his vehicle.

Officials say he was traveling northbound on Meridian St. at the time of the crash. He was wearing a seat belt, firefighters say, and the air bags did deploy.

The man was removed from the vehicle about 30 minutes later. He was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in serious condition.

The crash is under investigation.
