Man arrested after woman shot, killed in March

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Homicide detectives in Indianapolis said on Wednesday they had made an arrest in a woman’s death last month.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Mark Patterson, Jr. in connection to the death of 24-year-old Destiny Asher. He was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for one count of murder and one count of robbery, according to IMPD.

Asher was shot and killed on March 26. That day, officers were called to the intersection of East 21st Street and Arlington Avenue on the report of a person shot. Detectives believe Patterson met up with Asher at a gas station to sell narcotics. During the deal, police say Patterson approached the car Asher was in and tried to rob everyone inside.

According to police, at some point during the robbery, someone in the car exchanged gunfire with Patterson. After that, everyone fled the scene.

Later on, police found Patterson with a gunshot wound to the face. When they were investigating, they learned Asher arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. She died a short time later.Patterson was being held at the Arrestee Processing Center Wednesday morning.
