Police group to honor paralyzed IMPD officer

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Wednesday afternoon, the Indianapolis Police Foundation will make a special announcement with WISH-TV to support local law enforcement.

The IPF is a foundation that serves police officers in central Indiana with the goal to “protect and serve those who protect and serve.”

IPF established the Code One Fund to help provide resources to officers, especially if they were injured on duty. Wednesday’s announcement will detail how IMPD Officer Santos Cortez will be helped. In June 2012, Officer Cortez was struck by a drunk driver and paralyzed as a result of the crash.
