Registration for ‘On My Way pre-K” ends Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Governor Mike Pence’s “On My Way Pre-k” program will hit full steam this fall, but families need to register by Thursday. Those in Marion County may also apply for the “Indy Preschool Scholarship Program” with the same form.

Families with an income near the federal poverty level can apply on the city’s website or the state’s website. The child has to be between three or four years old on August 1, 2015 and live in Marion County. The applications will be accepted until April 30. If more families qualify than there are grants available, awards will be made through a randomized lottery process held on May 4.

Melanie Brizzi Director of Indiana’s Office of Early Childhood and Out of School Learning joined 24-Hour News 8 to talk about the program. Watch the full interview above.
