Student brings unloaded BB gun to before school program

AVON, Ind. (WISH) — School officials at Pine Tree Elementary School say a student brought an unloaded BB gun to a school function.

Karie Mize, Pine Tree Elementary Principal was notified by YMCA staff that the student brought the gun to a before school program at Pine Tree.

The staff took possession of the BB gun. Officials say at no time were the students in danger.

The Avon Community School Corporation School Resource Officer is assisting the Pine Tree Principal with the incident. Parents with children who attend the YMCA Before School Program have been contacted directly by Pine Tree Elementary staff. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
