Tortoise on wheels gets second chance at life

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Mrs. T, a 90-year-old tortoise, is going twice her normal speed thanks to her owner.

Jude Ryder, of Pembroke, West Wales, said rats broke into Mrs. T’s hutch and gnawed off her two front legs and one of her hind legs to the elbow joint.

She said she’s spent more than $1,000 on vet bills before asking her son, a mechanical engineer, for help, The Telegraph reports.

Her son Dale glued the wheels from a model aircraft to her shell – saving her life and making her faster than ever.

Ryder says Mrs. T seems pretty happy with the improvised prosthetic, although with a tortoise it’s difficult to tell.

What do you think of their idea?
