Columbus man arrested following foot chase

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — Police in Columbus say they arrested a man wanted in two separate cases and for not showing up for court hearings for the crimes on Tuesday.

According to police, Jason Sparks, 37, was first arrested in April 2014 for resisting arrest. Just 10 months later he was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Sparks didn’t appear at his April 17 court date or his March 11 date, according to 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at the Columbus Republic.

An arrest warrant was issued. Police were able to located Sparks a few blocks from the Greenbelt Golf Course as he was sneaking into a back yard.

Police caught up with Sparks as he attempted to make his getaway through a privacy fence. Sparks was booked at the Bartholomew County Jail.
