Indiana fugitive, once charged in murder plot, caught in Arizona

COCONINO COUNTY, Ariz. (WISH) – A former Lafayette surgeon, once accused of a murder plot, has been caught in Arizona after removing his tracking device and fleeing Indiana.

Gregory Konrath was accused in 2014 of plotting to kill his ex-wife.

The prosecutor in that case called it the most bizarre case he had ever been involved in.

On Thursday evening, Konrath was arrested during a traffic stop in Coconino County, Arizona, about a mile west of Flagstaff.

Konrath was taken without incident by officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The arrest was made following a joint investigation by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, the Miami County Prosecutor’s Office, Miami County Community Corrections, U.S. Marshal’s Office, the FBI, the DEA, Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Apache County (Ariz.) Sheriff’s Office and the Najavo County (Ariz.) Sheriff’s Office.

Konrath fled Indiana on Tuesday.

He is being held without bond in Coconino County Jail pending extradition to Miami County.

Konrath faces a level 6 felony for his escape and possible revocation of his previously suspended eight year sentence.
