LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Police continue to investigate after a man was found wrapped up on the sidewalk in Lafayette earlier Thursday morning.
Lafayette police found the body on Thursday after officers said a man walking by called authorities.
Investigators said the body was laying horizontally on the sidewalk wrapped in a tent. Lafayette police confirmed the person was male, but weren’t able to say much else Thursday afternoon.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office examined the man, and no signs of foul play or trauma were found.
Lafayette Police Lt. Brad Hayworth had little to say until authorities can perform more in-depth testing on the body.
“No, we don’t know at this time. Like I said, until we can examine the rest of the body and see if there is any signs of foul play or trauma, I can’t speculate as to the cause of death,” Lt. Hayworth told WLFI-TV.
Two people went with police to be questioned, but they were not detained or arrested. Lt. Hayworth says he hopes to have an update on this investigation on Thursday.
Neighbors said they were surprised to see this situation happening. None of the residents were sure who lived in the home near the body or what may have occurred.
