Man sentenced for murder; put body in wooden chest

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man has been sentenced after killing a woman and hiding her body inside of a wooden chest that belonged to his deceased mother.

James Wade was sentenced to 62 years on Friday after being convicted in April.

Wade murdered Jazmine Trammell in March of 2014.

Trammell’s body was discovered inside of a wooden chest on March 23, 2014. She had been stabbed multiple times.

Michael Wade, James Wade’s brother, saw news reports and recognized the chest as his deceased mother’s, which had been given to James.

Detectives found Wade’s phone number and address and traced calls from him to Trammell the night before the murder.

When inside of Wade’s apartment, police found large bleach spots and blood.

That blood matched Trammell’s DNA.

Wade’s sentence will be executed in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
