Crews respond to early morning residence fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Dispatch received a call about a residence fire just after 4 a.m.

Crews responded and were on scene at the fire in the 6200 block of East Hanna Avenue several minutes later.

Upon arrival crews spotted smoke coming from the one-story structure.

Two individuals were in the household at the time of the fire, but were able to successfully escape without harm.

The fire is believed to have started in the basement.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, crews were able to get the fire under control within 25 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damages are estimated at $5,000.
