Coroner identifies gender, race of body found in trash bin

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The body found stuffed inside a trash bin is not that of a small child, but that is one of the few things officials can confirm.

The coroner has not yet determined the age of the victim or how she died.

Preliminary autopsy findings determined that the body found in the trash can of an abandoned house was a black female.

The cause and manner of death are still pending after the autopsy performed Sunday at the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Part of autopsy testing includes a toxicology report.

“It takes about three weeks for results to come in,” Deputy Coroner Patt Kite said.

The coroner’s report also said an identification has not been established. Kite said she couldn’t confirm if the person was a child or an adult and an age has yet to be determined.

However, she could say the body found was not a small child.

It’s not known how long the body may have been in the trash bin.

The body was discovered when a neighbor doing yard work needed a place to put extra trash and he sent his son to the house to grab the trash can. When the son opened it there was a body inside.
