Federal charges for executive accused of producing child porn

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis man faces federal charges after investigators said they found more than 400 child porn videos were at his home.

Russell Taylor, 43, is charged with seven counts of production and one count of possession of child pornography in the case.

Taylor was the executive director of the Jared Foundation, a not-for-profit that helps children deal with childhood obesity. It was started by the Subway spokesman and Indianapolis native, Jared Fogle, in 2004.

Investigators said that some of the more than 400 videos were made by Taylor by secretly filming children in his current and former residences. Investigators said the videos took place inside the bathrooms and bedrooms between 2012 and 2015. Investigators received information of the alleged crimes and served a warrant on Taylor’s home on April 29.

Taylor appeared before a federal Magistrate judge Monday afternoon. He was arrested Sunday by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Indiana State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The federal charges stemmed from a joint investigation started by ISP.

Taylor could face decades in prison if convicted on all counts.
