Multiple communities see mayoral races, school funding votes

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis and Carmel aren’t the only communities with mayors on the ballot Tuesday..

Current Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear is running against challenger Mike Corbett. Both are Republicans. The mayoral race in Westfield also features two Republicans. Incumbent Andy Cook is facing off against Jeff Harpe. Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness, who was elected in a special election last year, is uncontested.

In Columbus, current mayor Kristen Brown is facing primary challenger Jim Leinhoop, a city council member.

Other big races for mayor are happening in Bloomington and Lebanon.

But beyond the races for mayor, there are other big issues on ballots in Central Indiana. Several school districts are using the primary to ask for tax dollars. Perry Township, Beech Grove, Brownsburg and Wayne Township are all seeking more tax dollars to pay for additional transportation or expansion plans.
