Police investigate death of Warren Central HS student

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are trying to figure out who shot and killed a Warren Central High School student Sunday night.

18-year-old Darrius Taylor was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on the 2600 block of Morning Star Drive.

Police say someone fired multiple shots before taking off in a vehicle.

IMPD Officer Christopher Wilburn said the act does not appear to be random. He’s asking anyone with information on the crime to speak up.

“We cannot do this alone,” Officer Wilburn said. “We need assistance from the community. We’ve always implored that and we will continue to do so.”

Police said Taylor has had encounters with IMPD, and officers have taken down his information in the past.

IMPD has not disclosed a motive for the shooting.

Warren Central High School released a statement saying the community is saddened by the student’s death.

It reads in part, “it is at times like these that we are reminded to remain vigilant and emboldened in our efforts to ensure the safety and protection of all our children.”
