Frankfort’s multimillion dollar question passes in Clinton Co.

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The voters have spoken in Clinton County, and a multimillion dollar question passed with a large percent of the vote.

According to unofficial numbers from Clinton County, a $30 million referendum that would help Frankfort High School receive much-needed renovations passed in Tuesday’s election. More than 1,600 residents, 65 percent, voted yes to the public question.

The referendum will increase Clinton County’s property taxes by 42 cents per $100 dollars of assessed property value.

Don Rusk, chairman of Friends of Frankfort Schools Political Action Committee said even though it will increase property taxes that nobody including him wants, he said it’s a necessity for the community.

“But we really have critical conditions at the school with the heating, no cooling, electrical is outdated. Insurance companies are almost to the point of not insuring us because of all of those factors,” Rusk explained as to why this referendum is so important. “And so it’s the infrastructure that’s necessary.”
