Mayor Franklin will face Kitchell in November’s election

CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Incumbent Ted Franklin wins the Republican mayoral primary in Logansport.

According to unofficial numbers from Cass County, Franklin defeated two candidates – Mike Berkshire and Larry Hood – with 49 percent of the votes. Franklin is seeking his second term in office.

On the Democratic side, Franklin will face opponent Dave Kitchell in November’s election. Kitchell won the primary with 65 percent of the vote against Matt Meagher and Rick Ricks.

Franklin said if elected for a second term he will focus on bringing new business to the city. He will also continue his work to bring a new power plant to Logansport to create jobs and cheap electricity.

“And I want to put that to rest,” Franklin said. “We’ve been in the power generation business for 120 years and it’s going to be the last thing that happens under my administration is for us to go out of business without giving it every effort that we can.”

Kitchell said he will focus on resolving power plant issues and making Logansport more business friendly and competitive. Kitchell said he can bring the change to Logansport that some of the citizens are looking for.

“The main thing people have told us is that we want change. They don’t want the incumbent in office. They are ready for somebody else to take over and really they’re not so concerned about being Republican as they want somebody else and I think we’ve got a clear choice now,” Kitchell said.
